10 Dec Autumn Traditional Fair – Baisoara – November 8th

As part of our oral history and service learning project Revive the nature-related traditions! – Baisoara, on the 8th of November, the project team and grade 4 students were invited to participate in The Autumn Traditional Fair in Baisoara.

The students used this opportunity to buy traditional products, but also to inquire about autumn traditions. They interviewed some villagers related to their childhood and to the traditional events they remembered from that time.

Testimonials:

  • “We wanted to sell something too, as a fundraising activity, so the week before we organized at Transylvania College a crafts workshop and produced hand lamps by decorating jars with leaves or thread or by painting them. All the jars were sold and we were very happy that people liked them.”  (student grade 4)
  • “I was so excited to see so many homemade types of jam, pies, bread, “sarmale” and others. I bought some jars of jam for my family” (exchange student invited)
  • “Parents, grandparents, students and teachers were working together for our cause, but also having fun, being proud of their homemade products and grateful for what the mountain is generously giving them – blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, fir buds, orchard fruits and so on.” (TC teacher)
