14 Oct Round Square International Conference 2015

Between the 2nd and 8th of October, Transylvania College was proudly represented at the Round Square International Conference 2015, in Singapore, by a delegation of five students (Cristina Muresan – Year 12, Georgia Duna – Year 12, Paula Macavei – Year 12, Katharina Danowsky – Year 13, Sonja Schueller – Year 13), accompanied by Mrs. Simona Baciu and Ms. Cristina Chismore (exchanges coordinator and librarian). The conference was hosted by the United World College of South East Asia, the best school in Singapore, which has two state of the art campuses and more than 5500 students. More than 1000 delegates, from 165 countries and from top schools around the world attended. The conference had the theme “Act Today, Change Tomorrow” and was focused on sustainability and how Round Square schools and their students can have a positive impact on the world and on future generations. Following the experience of meeting students from all over the world and taking part in several workshops and activities, our students have returned inspired and motivated to share with their colleagues what they have learned. The conference has also been a great opportunity to establish new connections with other Round Square schools, which will allow us to offer several exchange opportunities for our students. Furthermore, upon the return of our delegation from the third Round Square International Conference our school has had the opportunity to attend, we feel as proud as ever to be part of Round Square, as we are in company of the best schools in the world. We are already looking forward to next year’s conference, which will be hosted by Aiglon College, the top school in Switzerland. In the meantime, we will continue to develop the Round Square pillars (Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership, and Service) through everything we do in the school and we hope you share our belief that Round Square is a great part of what makes our school so special.
