13 Feb Rethinking Leadership: Round Square Conference 2017

By Sarah Suciu

Internationalism Deputy Officer

From the 17th to the 29th of January, our school hosted the European Round Square Conference with the theme “Rethinking Leadership”. 22 schools from all around Europe and Mediterranean region were represented by 30 students and 40 teachers. Around 50   students from Transylvania-college meet the delegates and were involved in the activities organised for them during the 3 days of the conference.

Our ambassador students presented our school to the guests who were very impressed with our 7 Habits and on our involvement in the Eco-Schools projects.

After the tours of the school, they got to know each other through some workshops that mostly involved teamwork and were organised by our drama team. After the workshops, the students and the teachers were invited to the Opening Ceremony. Everyone was inspired by the Romanian mountain climber Vasile Cipigan speech and talked about leadership during the workshop lead by Ella Bjorndottir. After the opening ceremony, it was time for dinner.

The next two days they had a nice city tour, a visit to the salt mine in Turda and they also spent a morning in Baisoara, where everyone painted a wall in the local school as part of our partnership with “Mircea Luca” School from Baisoara.

We share with you here only one of the many thoughts the guests expressed:

”A huge thank you and congratulations for hosting such a wonderful Regional Meeting and Conference! The organisation and attention to detail were superb. We were all made to feel very special! It was a great thrill to visit your School and meet some of your students, who were excellent ambassadors. You would have been very proud of them!

Thank you again.
I look forward to seeing you all during 2017

With best wishes
